Prototype Data - Great Northern 38000-38299 series boxcar
This kit is for the Great Northern 50 foot exterior post double plug door boxcar in series GN 38000-38299. These cars were purchased by GN from Pacific Car & Foundry in 1965. Cars were equipped with Standard Railway Supply (R-3/4 Improved Dreadnaught ends and overhanging diagonal panel roofs). Cars were delivered in GN Glacier Green. A number of cars were repainted into GN Big Sky Blue and later BN green. Cars where used in lumber and general merchandise service.

After the BN merger, GN 38000-38299 were renumbered to BN 239000-239299. All GN painted cars were retired by . The last BN painted cars were retired by 1994.

Styrene sides, ribs and doors.

Modeler must supply the following to complete the car:
BRANCHLINE: Part No. 100002- Ends.
Part No. 100006 - Roof
ACCURAIL: 50ft boxcar underframe.
TICHY: Part No.3062 - 18 inch grab irons (can be replaced by 18 inch wire grab irons)
CMA: Part No. 1010 - Boxcar ladders
PLANO: Part No. 128 - Crossover platforms
DETAILS WEST: Part No. 1020 - Air brake details
Recommended couplers: Accurail Accumate
Recommended trucks (Kato Barber S-2 Roller Bearing trucks Part #31-602 or Athearn Genesis “ASF Ride Control 70 ton Roller Bearing trucks Part #G4598)
EVERGREEN - Various sizes of plastic strip noted in instructions
