Prototype Data - Northern Pacific 4000-4499 series boxcar
This kit is for the Northern Pacific 50 foot welded boxcar. NP began building 500 cars in series 4000-4499 at the Brainerd,MN shops beginning in 1960 and completed in 1961 Cars were equipped with Standard Railway Supply (R-3/4 Improved Dreadnaught ends and overhanging diagonal panel roofs) Cars were painted standard NP freight car brown with the large “NP” and large “monad” After the BN merger, NP 4000-4499 were renumbered to BN 240600-241099. All NP painted cars were retired in 1985 . The last BN painted cars were retired in 1988.
Parts Supplied: Car sides and injection molded doors. Modeler must supply the following to complete the car: BRANCHLINE: Part #100002- Ends. (ends include the brake wheel housing and retainer lines) Part #100006 - Roof ACCURAIL: 50ft boxcar underframe.
