Northern Pacific 390000-390149 & 1350-1499 series boxcar - Kit #150001

Prototype Data - Northern Pacific 390000-390149 & 1350-1499 series boxcar
This kit is for the final two versions of Northern Pacific 50 foot exterior post lumber boxcars. NP began building 150 cars in series 1350-1499 in June 1968. An additional 150 cars numbered NP 390000-390149 were built beginning in May 1969. Both series of cars were equipped with Standard Railway Supply (R-3/4 Improved Dreadnaught ends and overhanging diagonal panel roofs) and International Steel (8-panel welded prefabricated sides). All cars in these two series were assembled at NP shops in Brainerd, Minn. After the BN merger, NP 1350-1499 were renumbered to BN 370350-370499. NP 390000-390149 were renumbered to BN 370200-370349. All NP painted cars were retired by October of 1986. The last BN painted cars were retired by 1999. During 1983, the BN removed the plywood posts on the inside of the cars and reconditioned, repainted and renumbered the cars to BN 370500-370649 and BN 370650-370799. All of these cars where off the BNSF roster by 2001.
